I signed up for Identity Guard's "Essentials" package (their basic protection) through Comcast. Comcast gives away the basic package to their customers as a value-added service. I signed up and just forgot about it. About a year later I get an email from Identity Guard telling me they had noticed some unusual activity on my credit report. What had happened was someone had gained access to my Debit Card info and signed up online for an account at Walmart. They had ordered a bunch of items and had them shipped to another state. Since I had not opened a Walmart account, I was able to nip this ID theft episode in the bud. The feature that caught the thief is credit monitoring. I highly recommend this service. I don't know how much it costs, sorry! I get it for free through Comcast like I mentioned. But do check out their web site, and consider this company to keep your credit score safe, and identity theft away from your family.

In summary, I would recommend Identity Guard to a friend.

I was inspired to write a review after reading the comments on this site since I've had a much different experience and have had the service recently and not years ago. The editor had great notes and scores for ID Guard, but the 2 reviews by customers sounded pretty bad. I recently started using them (winter of 2012) and so far have been very happy with my experience. It's been money well spent and I just consider it an insurance policy for my family. I highly recommend checking them out! They have a 2 week free trial which is great for testing the services.

I wish to report issues with the Product Identity Guard (IG).

I've been trying to enroll in the IG Protection service for over 2 months. It performs an online verification via Equifax as the source for questions. It always asks 6 questions. 4 of these I have had to answer correctly to get my annual credit reports from Equifax, Experian & Transunion. There are always 2 other questions for a car loan (certain month & year). As I have never had a car loan at the time specified, I always answer none of the above for the Leander & then I answer none of the above for the monthly payment. Then it says it cannot verify me & locks me out for 3 days. I repeat the process 3 days later again being locked out. So, now 2 months later, I am still not enrolled. I have asked them to look at their computer logs to see where valid answers are counted as incorrect. But they do not seem to be able bypass their totally automated processes to either manually allow me to get the service or to determine... (Read the full review)

Beware of false info on this site! Identity Guard causes a HARD hit on your credit file and for $14.95 a month, use your money elsewhere.
